SIA design

• Three key components:

• • Batch job launcher sia_launch;
  • Graphical User Interface (flow builder/editor, job monitor): sia_gui;
  • General-purpose OpenGL 3D/2D display server: sia_viewer

• PVM servers:

• • Execute remote flows, shells, and C++ methods: sia_proc
  • • This is the “super-executive” used to run flows under the GUI;
    • Also used to run PostScript and other file viewers, HTML browsers, and slave processes on clusters.
  • Remote file input (sia_fi) and output (sia_fo). These will also likely be replaced with sia_proc soon.

• Utilities

• • Module builder: pdf;
  • Code updater: sia-update; also performs most maintenance operations;
  • Web installer: sia-install.
